7th Hole: Fence

Oddly reminiscent of St. Andrew’s famous Road Hole, this hole features a blind tee shot, but the hill carries the ball down toward hole

With the shed standing in for the hotel on the Road Hole, you can’t even see your target as you stand on the 7th tee. Nevertheless, a ball struck softly enough will dependably come down the right-to-left slope. Just clear the gunge and land softly to the left of the nearest hole, and the ball will roll down to the target hole. Listen for your opponent’s groan when the ball goes in—you won’t be able to see it!

Caddy’s tip: Speed is more important than line because with the right speed, the slope will carry the ball to the hole. But be sure you clear the gunge or you’ll have to putt all the way across the green. (#5 handicap)
